Simply the benchmark for "made in France" knives. The N°08 Carbon was created in Joseph Opinel's workshop in 1890. Since then, it has become a worldwide classic, thanks to its design and effectiveness.
The 8.5 cm carbon steel blade offers an infallible cut and resistance. The beech handle makes it easier to grip and thus safer to use. The Virobloc safety system invented by Opinel allows the blade to be locked in either the open or closed position.
It is very versatile due to its size and indispensable for small DIY jobs, hunting, etc.

This knife requires blade maintenance after use (drying/lubrication).

  • Opinel carbon steel is a non-alloyed, high-carbon steel that achieves excellent hardness from the heat treatment operation, ensuring perfect edge retention, high wear resistance, and easy re-sharpening. However, since carbon steel has low corrosion resistance to moisture, it requires precautions for use: do not leave the knife in a humid environment, especially in the dishwasher, clean the blade with an oiled cloth after use and oil it often, as well as the joint.
  • The Yatagan is Opinel's traditional blade. Its shape is inspired by a Turkish sword, with a raised tip. The blade is milled with an exclusive curved profile, which guarantees its robustness and allows for effective re-sharpening.
  • Beech is the most commonly used wood for Opinel handles. PEFC certified, it comes from ecologically managed farms in the Jura and Vercors regions. It is hard, resistant, and easy to work with. The appearance is uniform, with a light color ranging from yellow to pink. It is recognizable by the presence of numerous small dark lines. The handle is varnished to protect it from moisture and dirt.
  • Invented in 1955 by Marcel Opinel, the Virobloc safety ring is present on all folding knives from N°06 upwards. Carved from stainless steel, the Virobloc consists of two parts: a fixed part and a sliding part. In addition to locking the blade in the open position (safety in use), it is now possible to lock the blade in the closed position (safety in transport).

Delivery Times

Every order received with standard processing will be handled at our warehouse and processed within 4/5 working days from the order date.
If Express Shipping is selected, we guarantee that the shipment will be processed in 1/2 working days.

Any delays will be communicated by phone or email by one of our staff.
Goods will be delivered within Italy via express courier BRT or GLS within the subsequent 24/72 hours.
This timeframe applies if the order payment method is CASH ON DELIVERY, CREDIT CARD, or Paypal.
If you choose to pay by Bank Transfer, we will have to wait for the credit to arrive in our bank account before shipping the items.

Shipping

Shipping costs are calculated based on the payment type, regardless of the package's weight and destination. In any case, costs will be calculated and indicated in the cart when placing the order.

Returns are permitted within 14 days from the date of receipt of the item.
